Luke Rackers has over 5 years of experience teaching piano lessons. He is currently studying piano education at the master’s level, and is continually working to improve his teaching philosophy and skills to better serve his students. Luke loves to share is passion for music with others.
Luke teaches students of all ages. His current students range in age from 5 to 93. He believes that you can never be too young or too old for piano lessons. He loves teaching both adults and kids. He currently has two grandmother-granddaughter teams....what fun!
Luke teaches independent piano lessons, composition/improvisation, and theory lessons to all ages. In addition to private lessons, Luke also offers, partner piano lessons, group lessons from 6-10 year olds, Recreational Music Making piano classes for working/busy adults, workshops and festivals on various music topics, and improvisation classes/workshops focused on healing.
Luke teaches from the Alfred Premier Piano Course, the Celebration Series, the American Popular Piano series, the Adult All-In-One series, and other methods depending on the student’s age, ability, and genre preference. In addition to teaching from these popular method series, Luke also supplements materials and repertoire from his expansive library to help create a well-rounded education. Students are encouraged to learn a variety of genres including classical, jazz, contemporary, popular, folk, broadway, and others. As they progress, students can pick a genre that they would like to emphasize.
Luke offers many fun options to his students, including informal and formal recitals, small group performance classes, themed summer lessons, festivals, and MTNA student awards and competitions. Luke pushes students to be the best possible musician they can be, while maintaining a fun, exciting, and relaxing atmosphere.
